Job Purpose
To produce a range of information products, including need assessments, situation, flash reports, etc. for IMU after receiving pre-processed information from the data analysis and network coordinating officers.
To translate/rephrase the IMU deliverables/products/questionnaires from Arabic to English and vice versa with high quality and using the humanitarian terminology in clear language understood by English native speakers

Responsibilities
To establish standard templates for all IMU information products.
To draft reports in Arabic and/or English in scientific, professional and clear language.
To review/edit the drafted reports and ensure the consistency and accuracy of the presented data in the form of narrative, figures, and maps.
To Read material and research humanitarian-specific terminology.
To create/translate reports in Arabic/English applying humanitarian terminology and ensuring translated texts convey original meaning, format and tone.
To read and grasp graphs, maps, infographics, tables, and other visuals to generate narrative concise texts demonstrating meaning and communicating message.
To produce regular/ad-hoc reports, newsletters, thematic reports, presentations, narrative for interactive and classical reports, and other narrative reports as assigned by the supervisor.
To translate any required documents by the manager from English to Arabic and vice versa
To prepare methodologies for IMU products.
To prepare secondary data for each report.
To draft/review/edit other substantive written material for the manager as requested.
To translate reports from Arabic to English and vice versa and other documents as requested by management.
To perform interpretation during meetings/trainings upon request.
To attend Cluster meetings, present IMU products there, and engage with UN cluster leads.
To present IMU products in a professional way in English/Arabic languages in meetings.
Write project proposals for any potential projects as per donor request.

To work overtime when required.
To perform any other needed duties as directed by the supervisor.

Qualification (Education/Work Experience/Languages)
Essential:
Education: A bachelor’s degree in English language, translation or any related field.
Language: Arabic language advanced level; English language advanced level; Turkish basic level.
Work Experience: A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in writing/translating reports related to the syrian context.

Desirable:
Master’s degree in English language, translation or any related field.
Language: Arabic language advanced level; English language advanced level; Turkish intermediate level.
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in writing/translating reports related to the syrian context.

Anticipation of commencing from 20/09/2024 to 20/11/2024 (including conducting field visits).

1.Background
Assistance Coordination Unit is implemented a project titled” Rehabilitation of Jomrokiyeh Irrigation System in Afrin”. Project aims to rehabilitate the Jomrokiyeh Irrigation System. Through this intervention, 376 farmers can access reliable and cost-efficient irrigation service for their fields.

2.Objective
The purpose is to female farmers with capacity building program about agricultural/cultivation in addition to conduct field visit to monitor and evaluation the practices and knowledge are in place.

3.Scope of Work
The consultant provides the following service during the contracting period:
– Assess the needs of female farmers to customize the training topics required.
– Provide technical capacity-building 5 sessions (2 days each) for 75 female farmers in the following areas of summer vegetable cultivation and winters crops as required by assessment.
– Conduct 10 field visits with female farmers to provide hands-on practical skills on crop planting, irrigation practices (drip irrigation, efficient watering schedules), harvesting, and post-harvest handling.

4.Deliverables

3.Scope of Work
The consultant conducts training sessions for financial committee in alignment with other points:
– Deliver comprehensive technical capacity-building training (one training, 5 days for 5 representatives of the WUA) to the financial and cost recovery team (financial management, cost recovery strategies, and best practices in financial sustainability).
– Develop detailed matrix outlining the roles and responsibilities within the financial and cost recovery team.
– Establish an efficient internal system for the financial department and cost recovery processes. This system should encompass financial planning, budgeting, revenue collection, and cost management.

-Create a financial monitoring and auditing system to track and assess financial performance.
– Design and provide forms and templates for financial records, billing procedures, and financial auditing.
Asset management.
– Following up with community and supervising the works.

  1. Background

Assistance Coordination Unit is implemented a project titled” Rehabilitation of Jomrokiyeh Irrigation System in Afrin”. Project aims to rehabilitate the Jomrokiyeh Irrigation System. Through this intervention, 376 farmers can access reliable and cost-efficient irrigation service for their fields.

  1. Objective

The purpose is to provide representatives of water users association with capacity building program to enhance and boost their management and administration skills enabling them to run the irrigation system and foster the coordination between the farmers.

  1. Scope of Work

The consultant conducts training sessions for farmers (3 groups/each group attends 3 days) on the following topics in alignment other terms:

  • Training Topics
  • Enhance the administrative and management skills of farmers.
  • Decision-Making and Problem-Solving Techniques.
  • Foster the capacity building of developing schedule for operation.
  • Enhance the concept of coordination between farmers and follow the needs.
  • Teach methods for monitoring the effectiveness of the Water User Association’s operations and evaluating the outcomes.
  • Negotiating skills.
  • Enhance the capacity for supervision of the financial committee.
  • Other terms
  • Management of staff working in the station and set a procedure for operation and maintenance.
  • Organizing the election process to choose the members of the Water Users Association and the Association’s Board of Directors, which consists of 5 people.
  • Develop organizational structure of Water User Association.
  • Empowerment of representatives to manage the operation of the station.
  • Develop/Assist in developing plans and strategies for responding to emergencies.

Training program

The training targets about 35 people, divided into 3 groups. Each group participates in 3-day training. The training schedule will be discussed later.

ACU rents the training hall and provides the refreshments.

  • Holds a bachelor’s degree or higher in administration, or any equivalent.
  • Proven expertise in management and administrative training.
  • Preferrable: PMD, PMP, PgMD.

Background:

Within the development projects implemented by ACU, a project supporting the solar energy value chain is being implemented. This current phase follows a previous stage where the value chain was analyzed and the founding charter of what is now known as the Syrian Scientific Society for Renewable Energies was signed.

In this current phase, efforts will focus on governing the association’s work and implementing the business model approved by the board of directors to achieve the association’s objectives.

Objectives:

  • Building an administrative structure capable of organizing work and ensuring sustainability.
  • Organizing the work of different departments, and distributing roles and responsibilities.
  • Optimizing the use of human and material resources available in the association to achieve sustainability.
Key Responsibilities

 

Main deliverables:

  • 12 members received 10-day training in 5 core subjects:
    • Governance
    • Managerial skills
    • Quality management
    • Financial management
    • Project management
  • A work plan for the next phase includes future activities, resource management mechanisms, and sustainability achievement mechanisms.

Main Tasks

  • Designing customized training materials tailored to the nature of the target audience.
  • Evaluating the cognitive progress of trainees.
  • Preparing pre and post-training assessments.
  • Conducting 10 training sessions on the mentioned topics above.
  • Monitoring the application by association members of what they have been trained on and achieving the desired outcomes.
  • Assisting in issuing outputs in the best possible format.
  • Providing consultations and guidance to contribute to the development and increased dissemination of the association’s work.
  • Coordinating and maintaining continuous communication with project management to achieve the maximum desired benefit from the training sessions.
Qualification (Education/Work Experience)
  • Must have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Business Administration or a related field.

Background:

As part of the development projects undertaken by ACU, the Civil Awareness Project is being implemented in northwest Syria. This project marks an advanced stage of the civil awareness program initiated ACU in early 2020. The program aims to build community trust and enhance the concepts of belonging and citizenship within society. Therefore, the role of the trainer is not only to implement the training process but also to create an atmosphere of collective understanding and establish societal concepts and values that contribute to building an aware generation capable of initiating change and innovation in Syrian society. The trainer works directly under the supervision of the Project Manager.

Objectives:

  • Disseminate civil awareness concepts among various segments of society, especially youth.
  • Support community and cultural initiatives and facilitate youth participation in interactive activities.

Key Responsibilities

Main deliverables:

  • 90 trainees received training in civil awareness.
  • A team of trained and empowered youth to become community leaders in the future of Syria.

Main Tasks

  • Designing training material.
  • Assessing the cognitive progress of trainees.
  • Preparing pre- and post-tests.
  • Implementing 24 civil awareness training sessions for 90 beneficiaries, averaging (4 sessions * 6 groups * 15 trainees) according to the following themes:
    • The empathy model.
    • Human rights.
    • Culture and cultural dialogue.
    • Civil society and its spaces.
    • Identity.
  • Implementing 24 advanced training sessions for a team of facilitators within the Learning Journey program, covering the following topics:
    • Critical thinking.
    • Scientific research methodology.
    • Adult learning patterns.
    • Development and political concepts.
    • Social relationships.
    • Ethics and values.
    • Self-awareness – Social self-awareness.
  • Implementing 24 follow-up sessions for practical application within the Learning Journey program.
  • Supervising and monitoring community activities (10 in total) required to be implemented during the project.
  • Continuous coordination and communication to achieve the maximum benefit from the training.

Contract Duration: 6 months

Qualification (Education/Work Experience)

  • Must have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in political science, psychology, sociology, or any other relevant field.
