Bakeries in Syria

As the crisis continues, humanitarian needs inside Syria are increasing across all sectors. The Syria
2014 Multi Sector Needs Assessment (MSNA) estimated that a total of 4.5 million people were in
need of food assistance. The Information Management Unit (IMU) of the Assistance Coordination
Unit (ACU) conducted an assessment of bakeries in Syria in order to inform the response provided
by aid actors within the food security sector. More specifically, the assessment aimed to collect data
on the type and the status of functioning of bakeries, as well as the number of beneficiaries; the
bread production capacity; sources of flour and support; and bread prices.
