Job Purpose
The WASH Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and managing WASH projects in alignment with the organization’s strategy and donor requirements. This includes planning, implementation, monitoring, quality assurance, reporting, and coordination with internal teams and external partners. The coordinator contributes to proposal development, budgeting, needs assessments, and strategic program improvements, while acting as a link between field teams and senior management.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Management and Coordination
- Manage the full project cycle of WASH projects (planning, implementation, monitoring, closure).
- Develop workplans and timelines and track progress in the field.
- Ensure adherence to international WASH standards (Sphere, WHO, UNICEF, WASH Cluster).
- Coordinate with field teams to ensure high-quality and efficient implementation.
2. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Quality Assurance
- Track project indicators and progress towards objectives.
- Participate in MEAL activities and contribute to performance improvement.
- Ensure the implementation of accountability and feedback mechanisms.
3. Coordination and Partnerships
- Coordinate with local authorities, partners, and other humanitarian actors.
- Represent the organization in WASH Cluster meetings and relevant forums.
- Support the development of strategic partnerships to enhance project impact.
- Facilitate communication between field teams and senior management.
4. Technical Support and Planning
- Contribute to project proposal development and technical budgeting.
- Conduct or support needs assessments and provide recommendations for program design.
- Provide technical guidance to teams on WASH activities and standards.
- Participate in sectoral and partial strategic planning within WASH programs.
5. Team Management and Capacity Building
- Provide guidance and support to field teams.
- Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and training of project staff.
- Delegate tasks and follow up on daily performance.
- Promote a collaborative and productive team environment.
6. Administration and Documentation
- Ensure proper documentation of all project phases (activities, contracts, photos, reports).
- Maintain organized archiving systems for easy access.
- Support the preparation of donor reports and final project documentation.
Other Duties
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the Programs Manager in line with the role.
Qualification (Education/Work Experience/Languages)
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil/Water, Mechanical, Electrical), or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in WASH or humanitarian projects.
- At least 3 years of experience in project coordination or management.
- Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
- Proficiency in Arabic (Advanced).
- Proficiency in English (Upper Intermediate or above).
- Good command of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Desirable:
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- 6–8 years of experience in the WASH sector.
- Project management certification (PMD Pro / PMP).
- Experience in developing Concept Notes and Project Proposals.
- Knowledge of humanitarian standards.
