In Northern Syria

The Economic Reality in Northern Syria report monitors the economic conditions in areas outside the regime’s control within the Syrian Arab Republic in light of the war which has been ongoing for more than ten years, and the impact of this war on the economic sectors and sources of income for the population. The assessment was conducted in 64 sub-districts within the governorates of Idleb, Aleppo, Ar-Raqqa, Al-Hasakeh and Deir ez-Zor; where all the cities and towns included in the assessment were outside the control of the regime forces. The study included interviews with sources of information and surveys with the employers and residents. The report highlights the percentages of female and male workers aged 20-45 years old, their average wages, and the most important professions available in northern Syria. The report includes detailed information on the sectors of trade, industry, agriculture, construction and contracts; in addition to the types of professions provided by these sectors, the sources of raw materials, and the markets; The report further covers the most important difficulties facing these sectors, and information on cash transactions and the remittance mechanism in northern Syria, as well as the most important difficulties facing cash transactions.
