Between law and reality

The Information Management Unit (IMU) of Assistance Coordination Unit (ACU) and the Syrian Legal Platform’s experts issued a report that addresses women’s rights in law, including the historical development in the international law and on the ground within areas outside the control of the regime in the Syrian Arab Republic before and after the outbreak of the war. For this study, 942 questionnaires conducted with both women and men included questions about women’s participation in the political and working life and decision-making processes. The report provides information on women’s right to education, social and cultural rights, women’s right to inheritance, the right to pass on the nationality of woman to her children, in addition to the impact of the war on women’s rights as well as several relevant points that are further elaborated in the report.
